Biography:

David began his theatrical career whilst at St. Columba’s College, where he was part of the cast for Henry X Part VII (by Michael Greene) which won the Luton Drama Festival award for best play and best ensemble acting. He arrived in Ampleforth College for the sixth form, and became involved in several productions in a variety of different roles. His most notable moments were directing the St. John’s House production of A Storm In A Teacup (which he adapted from the sitcom Porridge), stage managing Much Ado About Nothing and directing The Importance of Being Earnest. David was awarded his Theatre Laurels when he became head of the Green Room, the college’s Theatrical society. He was the stage manager for the first two Theatrical Theatrics’ ventures to the Edinburgh Fringe, before directing the third, P.G. Wodehouse’s Come On Jeeves, which achieved sell-out status.

Since leaving Ampleforth, he has studied English Literature in Trinity College Dublin, where he has pursued his love of all things dramatic in the college dramatic society Players, most notably writing a ten-minute concept piece, a screenplay and two full-length plays, Fragments and Curtain Call, directing them both. He later adapted Curtain Call, (a play about the first night of a new show told from both the audience and the backstage perspective,) into a screenplay that was nominated for Film Script of the Year at the 2006 Irish Student Media Awards. He is currently in post-production of Patrick, a short film directed in Autumn 2006, as well as anticipating the production of Think Tank in early spring.

David’s interests outside of theatre include all kinds of things, such as music, disco (which has earned him the moniker Disco Dave) editing the Theatre Page of the Trinity News, and most importantly cricket, of which he is a huge fan. He also plays guitar in the Dublin-based Jazz band Uncle Monty. His claim to fame is as an extra standing next to John Malkovich in the 2003 Johnny English, where he is visible for a whole eight seconds.
