Biography:
Chris was part of Theatrical Theatrics’ first venture to Edinburgh in 2004 and he made his return in 2006 after a year’s absence as Company Composer. Christopher started composing while at Ampleforth when he was persuaded to write some incidental music for an Alasdair Blackwell production of My Proud Beauty. Following this popular score and the highly acclaimed score for the Company’s production of All’s Well That Ends As You Like It, Christopher branched out into other genres of music especially choral music. Recent choral compositions include The Two Adams (premiered at the Cheltenham Festival) and An Appalachian Folksong Suite (premiered in Oxford).
Christopher is currently studying music at New College, Oxford where he is a choral and academic scholar. His current musical commitments include being a member of the world-famous New College Choir, conducting New College’s choral society and is in regular demand as a soloist. Christopher’s recent solo performances have included Fauré’s Requiem, Handel’s Dixit Dominus as well as taking the role of Pilate in Bach’s St John Passion. He has recently recorded the bass aria from Parry’s anthem Hear My Words for Regent Records. Christopher was also a member of the chorus in New Chamber Opera’s production of The Count Ory by Rossini. Future engagements include Fauré’s Requiem and a concert of Handel and Purcell odes.
Christopher has recently conducted a concert of French choral music and a concert of British and American folksongs and spirituals. Future conducting commitments include Britten’s St Nicolas Cantata, Ceremony of Carols and Simple Symphony.
Christopher’s interests include 17th-century opera, cricket, Italy (specifically Venice and Florence) and fine wine.
